Part 8: Electronic conveyancing – UK Land Registration Act 2002

UK Land Registration Act 2002 91-95: Electronic dispositions and the land registry network

What does 91-95 require?

A document in electronic form that purports to effect a disposition of a registered estate, charge or noticed interest, that is made at a time and date, has the electronic signature of each person by whom it purports to be authenticated, is certified and meets the other conditions the rules provide, is treated as a deed and as in writing and signed (section 91). The registrar may provide an electronic communications network and set the terms of access (section 92 and Schedule 5); the Lord Chancellor may by rules require simultaneous registration for specified dispositions, so that they have no effect unless made electronically and registered at once (section 93); electronic settlement is provided for (section 94). Conveyancers accessing the network are bound by the network access agreement and its conditions.
