UK ICO Guidance on Video Surveillance including CCTV (2022) G.4: G.4 Erasure and restriction of footage on the grounds that apply

People can have footage erased where it is no longer needed for its purpose, where legitimate interests is the basis and they object without an overriding interest, where processing was unlawful or where law requires it, subject to exemptions (public task, certain research, legal obligations to process). They can also ask for processing to be restricted, for example while a concern about the footage is resolved, by moving data to another system, making it unavailable to users or removing published footage temporarily.
