UK Data Protection Act 2018
Part 3: Law enforcement processing – UK Data Protection Act 2018

UK Data Protection Act 2018 s.38: Section 38 The fourth data protection principle: accuracy and distinguishing data

Data must be accurate and where necessary up to date, with every reasonable step taken to erase or rectify inaccurate data without delay. So far as possible data based on facts must be distinguished from data based on personal assessments, and data about different categories of people (suspects, convicted persons, victims, witnesses) must be clearly distinguished. All reasonable steps must be taken not to transmit inaccurate, incomplete or out-of-date data: quality must be verified before transmission, each transmission must carry information for the recipient to judge accuracy, completeness, reliability and currency, and recipients must be told without delay if data sent were incorrect or sent unlawfully.
