TNFD Recommendations LEAP-L4: L4 Interface with sensitive locations

What does LEAP-L4 require?

Additional guidance, suggested and not required to adopt the recommendations; supports Strategy D and Risk and impact management A. Which activities in moderate and high dependency and impact value chains, and which direct operations, are in ecologically sensitive locations? Test against the five criteria (any one suffices): biodiversity importance (protected areas and OECMs, KBAs, EBSAs, threatened, migratory or endemic species, rare or threatened ecosystems and connectivity areas), high ecosystem integrity, rapid decline in integrity, high physical water risk, and importance for ecosystem service provision including to Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, using reference datasets (WDPA, KBA, IUCN Red List, STAR, integrity indices, Aqueduct, WWF Water Risk Filter) and judgement rather than a rigid formula; revisit after the Evaluate phase. Output: all sensitive locations and other assessment locations (corporates) or an analysis of clients' and investees' interface with sensitive locations (financial institutions).
