Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics (2020) 3.1: 3.1 Research

Research adds to the speech pathology evidence base and its use in practice. When undertaking research the speech pathologist uses protocols and conducts it to the standards the health and scientific community accepts, and: obtains approvals where required, ethics approval for studies included; keeps protocols within all relevant laws and standards; acts with integrity, diligence and honesty in obtaining and managing research funding; aligns research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to the ethical guidelines identified by SPA's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee; responds to the diverse context of the people and communities involved and follows any specific ethical guidelines for that context; makes sure participation does not needlessly hold up or block access to evidence-informed assessment or intervention; uses peer review before presenting research publicly; and acknowledges others' work or contribution in publications, presentations or products.
