Part 4: directions to internet intermediaries and mass media – Singapore Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA, 2019)

Singapore Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA, 2019) s24: s.24 Make correction notices easily perceived; remedy shortcomings under a Remedial Order

What does s24 require?

Whoever must communicate, publish, broadcast, transmit or give a correction notice under a Part 4 Direction must ensure it is easily perceived: conspicuous on any platform or device, easy to read, view or hear and hard to miss, placed near the statement where users look, and understandable without going elsewhere (a mere hyperlink is not enough); prescribed measures are deemed sufficient. The Minister may order remedial measures, and non-compliance with a Part 4 Direction or Remedial Order is an offence of up to $1 million plus $100,000 a day (s.27), with the state of the art and cost weighed for reasonable excuse.
