Where a member or firm concludes that AI output will materially affect the surveying service it delivers (typically outputs that shape the substance of the work, such as summaries relied on in a report, drafted opinions or recommendations on what to investigate), it must record that determination and its reasoning; where the standard conflicts with local legislation (such as the EU AI Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), the law prevails but the conflict must be recorded and reported to RICS.
