The Board keeps a list of specialist retail valuers separate from the register. An individual registered valuer may apply in the approved form with the prescribed fee to be recorded on the list; the Board grants the application if satisfied the valuer has the experience and competence in retail shop lease valuation the regulation prescribes, and otherwise refuses it with an information notice (sections 42C, 42D). Specialist retail valuers are the pool from which the chief executive nominates valuers for current market rent determinations under the Retail Shop Leases Act 1994.
