Principle 1: Underwriting Profitability – Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd's

Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd's P1.5: 1.5 Robust portfolio management to deliver the agreed business plan

Portfolio management is robust. Baseline: a portfolio management framework with a repeatable process to analyse mix and performance drivers; quantitative analysis for strategic planning decisions and quarterly reporting; the framework cascaded consistently and working across the business; the success of actions monitored; remediation plans (performance improvement plans, whole account remediation) produced where needed and tracked, quarterly at the baseline; a senior, experienced person with a clear mandate responsible for the framework. Higher levels add finer granularity, embedded performance improvement processes, an annual framework review reported to the board, monthly tracking of remediation, identification of opportunities as well as issues, qualitative assessment, horizon scanning, lead indicators and scenario modelling including macroeconomic conditions.
