The data subject may receive their personal data from the controller in a format that is readable or commonly used by automatic tools and usable by automated means, and may ask the controller to send it in that format to another controller where automated means allow, or to receive directly what the controller sends to another controller unless technically impossible. The right covers data processed with consent, data exempt from consent under section 24(3) and other section 24 data the Committee prescribes. It does not apply to transfers for a public interest task or legal compliance, or where it would violate others' rights; refusals are recorded with reasons under section 39.
