PAS 2080:2023
Clause 12: Claims of conformity – PAS 2080:2023

PAS 2080:2023 12: Make claims of conformity on a stated basis and in the permitted form

What does 12 require?

An organisation that says it conforms to the PAS states which of three routes underpins the claim: certification by an independent third party accredited for this PAS; validation by some other party that the organisation has satisfied itself meets recognised standards for bodies offering certification; or self-validation. The claim says plainly whether it covers an organisation, a programme or a project, and which clauses it covers. A self-validating organisation must be able to show its carbon management process was set up as the PAS requires and publishes a supporting document on a website (also available on request) covering the scope of the claim, summary evidence for each clause, any limits arising from data quality or gaps, the key stakeholders and roles in the process, and a summary of further improvement actions. Each role uses the prescribed form of words for its claim, naming the asset or programme, the claimant and, as the case may be, the certifying body, the validating body or the words self-validated.
