New Zealand Commerce Act 1986
Parts 6 and 7: Enforcement, remedies, penalties, investigations and offences – New Zealand Commerce Act 1986

New Zealand Commerce Act 1986 80A: Never indemnify or insure directors, employees or agents against cartel pecuniary penalties or the costs of defending them

What does 80A require?

A company may not indemnify its own, or an interconnected company's, current or former directors, employees or agents against a pecuniary penalty imposed under section 80 for a contravention of the cartel prohibition in section 30, or for the costs of defending or settling the proceedings in which the penalty is imposed; an indemnity given in contravention is void, and the restriction extends to insurance and premiums as the section provides.
