A school bus owner or operator may record audio with video inside a school bus only if the school board authorizes it after a public hearing, the district notifies parents and students through its pupil safety and violence prevention policy, and a sign on the bus prominently tells occupants. The board must set an administrative procedure on retention, ownership, who may listen and destruction; parents of a student facing discipline may listen; recordings may not be kept beyond 10 school days unless relevant to discipline or ordered by a court; and only the portion relevant to a reported incident or complaint may be reviewed.
