NAIC Annual Financial Reporting Model Regulation (Model Audit Rule, MDL-205) mdl205-s11-material-weaknesses: File the accountant's communication of unremediated material weaknesses within sixty days of the audited report, with the insurer's remediation description

In addition to the audited financial report, each insurer must furnish the commissioner a written communication, prepared by the accountant within sixty days after the filing of the audited financial report, describing any unremediated material weakness in internal control over financial reporting at the preceding 31 December that the accountant noted in the course of the audit, or stating that none was noted. The insurer must add a description of the remedial actions taken or proposed where the accountant's communication does not describe them. Significant deficiencies the accountant communicates are expected to be kept by the insurer, confidentially, for the financial condition examiner.
