Malaysia National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) 2024 5.2: Large NLCos within reporting groups: reliance on the holding company or a time-limited exemption

What does 5.2 require?

A Large NLCo whose holding company already reports under standards aligned with the ISSB's, or equivalents such as the EU's ESRS, may rely on the parent's own sustainability and climate reporting (paragraph 5.2). Where the holding company reports under other international standards and frameworks, such as the GRI Standards or TCFD, the Large NLCo may be exempted for three reporting periods at the policy discretion of the Registrar (the Companies Commission of Malaysia's chief executive), after which it must apply the ISSB Standards for annual periods starting from 1 January 2030 (paragraph 5.3); further guidance on accepted standards may be issued.
