Malaysia National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (2024) A: End users: the dos and don'ts for organisations adopting AI

What does A require?

Organisations and individuals adopting AI should understand their needs (identify the problems AI is to solve and how it addresses them), explore the technology to stay competitive, protect personal data because AI depends on data from many sources, adopt ethical guidelines and checks that keep the system fair and free of bias, build up AI skills and keep them current, recognise AI's benefits, and invest in AI with assessments of future benefit and impact. They should not underestimate the complexity of implementation (a lifestyle and cultural shift, not just technology), ignore the human element that AI should augment, neglect data privacy, overlook compliance with the laws and regulations of their industry and region, chase hype, over-depend on AI, accept unrealistic expectations or disregard regulation.
