Part 2 C: Common Guiding Principles – Japan AI Guidelines

Japan AI Guidelines C2.2: 2)(2) Proper use (of AI)

What does C2.2 require?

Develop, provide and use the AI system or service so that, within the range the actor controls, no harm arises from provision or use that departs from the original purpose. For outputs of AI centred on multimodal generative AI, bear in mind that increasingly sophisticated outputs are easy to produce and may encourage misunderstanding or prejudice and infringe others' intellectual property rights, and take measures such as putting human judgment into the use (watermarks showing content is generated and interface improvements are the examples given); pay attention to the safety and security of AI-generated program code; and follow the Cabinet Office and Agency for Cultural Affairs discussions on AI and intellectual property.
