Japan Act on Specified Commercial Transactions (Act No. 57 of 1976) Art.66: Art. 66 Reports, document production and on-site inspection

The minister (in practice the Consumer Affairs Agency and METI regional bureaux, and prefectures for delegated matters) may order sellers, providers, MLM parties, business opportunity operators and purchasers, their closely related persons, their contractors, their counterparties and email advertising contractors to report or produce books and documents, and may inspect premises and question staff; failing to report, false reports or obstructing inspection are offences (Articles 71, 73), with corporate fines under Article 74.
