Clause 5: Environmental – IWA 48:2024

IWA 48:2024 5.2.2: Keep environmental data, collection methods and records that make results transparent, reproducible and interoperable

What does 5.2.2 require?

The organisation maintains information, data collection methods and records that make its environmental results transparent, interpretable, reproducible, repeatable and interoperable, since these underpin its environmental credibility, and in doing so considers realistic and practical criteria; climate change and greenhouse gas emissions; offsetting, insetting and carbon credits; life cycle impacts on supply chain and customers; waste management, disposal and circular economy potential; biodiversity, land management and soil health; limits and boundaries; water sources and energy type; interested parties' expectations including fair and equitable resource use; trends and future considerations; changes in material sources and operations; and technology and AI options. Many of these feed the materiality decisions, and they keep environmental risks and opportunities aligned with governance, vision and ESG objectives.
