ITU Radio Regulations and Space Security Standards RR3: RR Article 3: Technical characteristics of stations

What does RR3 require?

Equipment and emissions must satisfy the Regulations (3.1); equipment should follow the latest technique as reflected in ITU-R Recommendations and efficient signal processing, and be designed with neighbouring parts of the spectrum in mind (3.2 to 3.4); transmitting stations shall meet the frequency tolerances of Appendix 2, the spurious-domain limits of Appendix 3 and any out-of-band limits the Regulations set, keeping tolerances, unwanted emissions and bandwidths as low as the technique and service allow, and using minimum spectral power density with bandwidth-expansion techniques (3.5 to 3.10); receivers should match transmitter tolerances, selectivity and resistance to interference (3.11 to 3.13); administrations shall have the emissions of stations under their jurisdiction checked frequently, using Article 16 means where needed (3.14); damped-wave emissions are forbidden (3.15).
