Clause 6: Policy and organizational framework – ISO/IEC 30111:2019

ISO/IEC 30111:2019 6.3: 6.3 Vulnerability handling policy development

Every vendor shall write, and keep up to date, an internal policy for handling vulnerabilities. The policy sets out and makes clear what the vendor intends to do when investigating and fixing vulnerabilities within the handling process, and it must fit with the external disclosure policy that ISO/IEC 29147 calls for. The internal policy is aimed at the vendor's own staff; it defines who is responsible at each stage and how reports are dealt with, and should contain the core guidance, principles and responsibilities for dealing with potential vulnerabilities in products or services, a list of the departments and roles responsible, protections against disclosure before a fix exists, and target timescales for developing remediations. The external disclosure policy, aimed at reporters and users, follows clause 9 and Annex A of ISO/IEC 29147:2018.
