Confirmation is the last step before deployment: a formal check that the process meets the agreed requirements, giving formal evidence it is fit for the investigation. The validation evidence is checked against the requirements for the intended use, and only a fully validated process can be confirmed. A process validated earlier can be confirmed without new validation if that validation fully covers the current investigation, external validation included. Confirmation can close a validation or re-validation, or stand alone as a formal record that validation evidence from an earlier case is adequate for this one.
