The organization should know the readiness of each ICT element: ICT services, facilities, technology (architecture, hardware and software), data, processes, suppliers and their critical components, and staff competencies, because knowledge of the ICT structure underpins the governance of business continuity including ICT readiness. It should raise, enhance and maintain awareness through a continuing programme of training, education and information for the staff concerned, and evaluate the effectiveness of that delivery; ensure staff know how they contribute to the IRBC objectives; ensure everyone assigned IRBC management responsibilities is competent by determining the competencies needed, analysing training needs, providing training, confirming competence and keeping records of staff qualifications, experience, skills, training and education; have top management or its delegates set out a clear, complete allocation of roles, granular enough to identify each individual IRBC role, with the linked responsibilities documented; and plan, develop and implement an IRBC training programme so that people with IRBC roles can fulfil them when an event occurs.
