Clause 6.1 and 6.2: Integration principles and the areas where the standards pull apart – ISO/IEC 27013:2021

ISO/IEC 27013:2021 6.1: Use consistent terminology and keep documented traceability to both standards

What does 6.1 require?

The harmonized structure, with its shared terms and shared requirements, is common to both standards and eases integration. The integrated system should use clear and consistent terminology even where that means wording a requirement differently from the published text, while still ensuring clear traceability to what each of the two standards requires; the integrated system should keep documented traceability to each standard, for which a single documentation set and a traceability matrix help demonstrate conformity in audits and reviews and track which activities each standard needs. The goal should be a viable integrated system that enables conformity to both, not a contest between them; conflicting viewpoints should be resolved in a way that satisfies both standards and sustains continual improvement, using one standard's extra detail to supplement the other, and taking care to retain everything needed for conformity to each.
