Clause 6: Resource requirements (personnel, facilities and equipment, subcontracting) – ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection

ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection 6.3.1: Subcontracting only to demonstrably competent subcontractors

What does 6.3.1 require?

The body normally performs its contracted inspections itself; where it subcontracts any part, it ensures and can demonstrate that the subcontractor is competent and, where relevant, meets the applicable requirements of this or another conformity assessment standard. Individuals contracted to work under the body's management system are not subcontractors.
