Drawing on the results of performance evaluation, the organization should identify and choose improvement opportunities and carry out the actions and system changes they call for. Those actions and changes should keep or build on strengths, close weaknesses and gaps, and correct, prevent or lessen deviations and nonconformities. The organization should make sure they are carried through promptly, fully and effectively, and should share them inside the organization and with relevant interested parties so that learning and improvement follow. A deviation means a gap that has been identified, an unwanted effect, or a departure from the performance expected; a nonconformity means that a requirement has not been met.
