Every logistic unit, and goods picked from one, carries identifiers throughout transport and storage that let the organization retrieve the goods' identification and quantity, the supplier, the receipt date, expiry, use-by or best-before dates where applicable, the documented temperature or other condition requirements for transport and storage where applicable, nonconforming or quarantined status, and hazardous substance warnings. Where the organization assembles logistic units, mixing bulk deliveries or picking from several units included, it keeps a record of when the operation took place, which units were involved (their identifiers), and a stock inventory of each unit before and after. Measures prevent loss of identification of any part of a logistic unit, and delivery records hold the goods and quantities, the goods received, the delivery date, the logistic unit identifiers and the temperature or other condition profile during storage and transport where applicable. Quantity may be expressed in logistic units and identification by product category.
