Clause 9: Verification and validation strategy – ISO 21448:2022

ISO 21448:2022 9.2: 9.2 Verification and validation strategy: scope of the considerations

The V&V strategy considers the sufficiency of sensor and external data accuracy and dependability, the accuracy of environment modelling by sensor processing, the ability of decision algorithms to handle insufficiencies safely, robustness against adverse conditions and known triggering conditions, absence of unreasonable risk from hazardous behaviour, whether the HMI keeps misuse in check, handling of out-of-ODD use, suitability of the driving policy, fallback and minimal risk condition, and compliance with acceptance criteria in operation with sufficient confidence. It covers performance within the ODD and also its boundaries and outside, including verifying that the system cannot be engaged outside the ODD and that transitions out of it escalate to the driver or a fallback to reach the minimal risk condition.
