After consulting the team, the team leader should give each member responsibility for auditing particular processes, activities, functions or locations and, where appropriate, the authority to take decisions. In doing so the leader should consider the impartiality, objectivity and competence of the auditors, making good use of resources, and how the roles of technical experts, auditors-in-training and auditors differ. The team should meet as needed to share out the work and agree any changes, and assignments may be altered as the audit goes on so that the objectives are still met.
