The organization shall assess its environmental performance and how effective the environmental management system is. It shall decide: what to monitor, measure and analyse; how monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation will be done, as relevant, so results are valid; the criteria, and suitable indicators, for judging its environmental performance; when monitoring and measurement take place; and when results are analysed and evaluated. Monitoring and measuring equipment shall be calibrated or verified and then used and maintained as appropriate. It shall also share relevant information on its environmental performance inside and outside the organization, in line with its communication processes and with what its compliance obligations demand, and shall keep suitable documented information recording the results.
