Iowa Client Trust Account Rules (Iowa Court Rules Chapter 45) 45.11: Sole signatories may designate a successor signatory who takes over on death, incapacity or discipline

What does 45.11 require?

A lawyer who is the only signatory on a trust account may name a successor signatory in a document the depository accepts. The successor must be a member of the Iowa bar who is in good standing, and the authority takes effect on the events the instrument describes, which may include death, disappearance, abandoning the practice, incapacity (temporary or permanent), suspension or disbarment.
