ILO Nursing Personnel Convention C149 (1977) R157 Para 5: Rational structure of nursing categories

What does R157 Para 5 require?

A rational nursing personnel structure should be set up in consultation with the social partners, classing personnel in a limited number of categories by education and training, level of functions and authorisation to practise; for example professional nurses, auxiliary nurses working under supervision as appropriate, and nursing aides performing specified tasks under supervision. The Annex asks that the classification rest on job analysis and evaluation carried out with the social partners.
