IEEE 7000 6.3: Team competency

What does 6.3 require?

Beyond the individual roles, both every individual and the team collectively should show competence while doing ethically aligned design, and individuals should be selected for roles on competence: technical domain knowledge (empirical, academic or both); experience of applying it in a range of contexts, with the skills needed; motivation to reach the goals and keep improving; common behaviours such as leadership, working as a team and following professional codes; being able to adjust as circumstances change by developing new know-how; the ability to perform tasks efficiently with minimal waste; and being able to perceive what is wanted and reliably provide quality to the end client. Competence may be attributed to a team where a task is multidisciplinary, complex or large.
