Service providers can perform activities such as maintenance through a network or other remote connection. The HDO and the remote service provider agree on the connected services and the references used for the remote connection; because remote connectivity exposes both of them to risk to the confidentiality, the integrity and the availability of information and systems, risk measures are required; and the manufacturer applies risk management to remote connectivity including its effect on safety and effectiveness, with ISO/TS 11633-1 and ISO/TR 11633-2 as guidance on remote maintenance risk assessment.
