IT project management roles are assigned with segregation of duties, dual control or compensating controls so that no one person can misappropriate funds, buy substandard products or initiate inappropriate contracts and small problems are caught early, with a sponsor as the most senior role obtaining stakeholder endorsement on the business case, providing resources and appointing the project owner, and the project owner, project manager, project management office, steering committee and team members carrying the responsibilities the booklet describes.
