DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC SRG) v1r3 5.19: Electronic mail protections: DoD email hygiene and routing rules for cloud-hosted mail

What does 5.19 require?

DoD Components route mail through the enterprise email security gateway (EEMSG) unless waived, and a waived Component provides equivalent protection; a Level 4 or 5 mail server inside a mission owner's cloud enclave sends and receive external mail via the BCAP and the Internet access points through the EEMSG, mail to DoD data centre enclaves passes through the BCAP, SaaS email offerings provide an email hygiene and protective service through which transfers pass, and BCAPs route server-to-server mail appropriately, all in accordance with TASKORD 12-0920.
