At each register office and each registration office and station, the council that employs the superintendent registrar or registrar must, subject to the local scheme, provide and maintain the equipment and facilities that the Registrar General reasonably considers necessary for the officer's functions, supporting registers of births, deaths and still-births kept in the form the Registrar General requires (including electronic registers visible at once to the superintendent registrar and Registrar General, section 61).
