The Secretary of State may by written notice, stating why, require a registered provider or an accredited conformity assessment body to provide information reasonably required for Part 2 functions, in a specified form, place and time. A notice to a registered provider must explain that failing to comply is a ground for removal from the register. A notice cannot require a disclosure that would breach the HMRC, Welsh Revenue Authority or Revenue Scotland onward-disclosure rules, the data protection legislation or the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, privileged legal advice about Part 2, or self-incriminating information; a required disclosure does not breach confidence.
