In the preparation phase the applicant moves from first preparations to a submitted application and the formal start of the procedure, and may ask an evaluation facility for help with the application documents, especially the annexes. The vendor's tasks are to exchange information with the parties and describe the product's technical properties; check that the required evidence is available, suitable and complete; conclude an evaluation contract with the facility and take part in scheduling; take part in creating the test plan, including where needed proof of evaluator access to, and protection of, the test environment; prepare the application with its annexes (AIS-N1, AIS-N2); submit the application for certification, completed per its instructions, stamped and personally signed, on paper or as a scan with the annexes preferably electronic, and supply a PGP key; propose a schedule; and then wait for the audit or the evaluation to begin.
