To procure responsibly sourced products: a prerequisite that every timber and timber-based product comes from legal harvesting and legal trade (the minimum standard at every rating); one credit for a documented sustainable procurement policy and procedure by the end of concept design, disseminated to personnel and included in the construction contract, that favours products with responsible sourcing certification; and up to three credits from the Mat 03 calculator where the applicable building elements and materials (structure, envelope, finishes, landscaping) are covered by recognised responsible sourcing certification schemes such as BES 6001, EMS-based schemes and FSC or PEFC for timber, scored by the points achieved.
