BCBS Principles for Operational Resilience (2021) P5-32: Continuity, contingency and exit strategies for third-party failure, with scenarios that assess substitutability and alternatives such as bringing the service in-house

What does P5-32 require?

The bank prepares continuity and contingency procedures and exit strategies so that a provider's failure or disruption does not take a critical operation down with it. Continuity scenarios test whether each provider serving a critical operation could be replaced, and what other options (including taking the service back in-house) would keep the bank resilient during a provider outage.
