Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition)
General Practice Standard 3 Qualifications of our clinical team – Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for General Practices (5th edition) GP3.1: Qualifications, education and training of the clinical team: clinicians hold current national registration where applicable and accreditation with their professional body and take part in relevant continuing professional development; GPs are vocationally registered, on a pathway to Fellowship or registrars under appropriate supervision; and the clinical team is trained in the equipment they use and aware of its risks

What does GP3.1 require?

Patients are entitled to assume their clinicians are qualified and current. The practice checks and records that every member of the clinical team holds current AHPRA registration where the profession requires it and relevant accreditation or certification, and that each participates in continuing professional development appropriate to their role and the practice's population, including cultural safety and emergency skills. Every GP is a vocationally registered general practitioner, a medical practitioner on a recognised pathway to Fellowship, or a general practice registrar supervised by a qualified vocationally registered GP as the training program requires. Clinicians are trained to use the practice's clinical equipment relevant to their role and understand the risks it carries.
