Core Standard 8 Education and training of non-clinical staff – Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition) C8.1: Education and training of non-clinical staff: non-clinical staff undertake training suited to their role and the patient population, and those with direct patient contact complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training at least every three years

What does C8.1 require?

Call handlers, receptionists and drivers shape the patient's experience and may be first on the scene in an emergency. The service ensures non-clinical staff receive training relevant to their duties and the people served, such as triage awareness and escalation, privacy, infection control, cultural safety, dealing with aggression and the service's software. Non-clinical staff who have direct contact with patients, including drivers, complete CPR training with a recognised provider at least once every three years, and the service keeps the certificates.
