Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)
Core Standard 4 Health promotion and preventive care – Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition)

Australia RACGP Standards for After-hours and Medical Deputising Services (5th edition) C4.1: Health promotion and preventive care: patients using the service receive relevant information on health promotion, illness prevention and preventive care, tailored to them and appropriate to an after-hours encounter

What does C4.1 require?

Even a one-off after-hours contact can prompt prevention. Where it is relevant to the presenting problem the clinician offers information on healthy behaviour, immunisation, screening or early detection tailored to the patient's age, risk factors and background, consistent with the RACGP Red Book, and flags opportunities to the regular practice in the report back, such as an overdue immunisation noticed during a visit. The service may also supply printed or online material.
