The section 58 investment power is delegated only to the accountable authorities named in the table, and each may invest only amounts credited to the special accounts listed for it (for example the AGS client funds account, ASIC's trust account, the National Residue Survey account, the Defence Service Homes Insurance account, the Federal Circuit and Family Court litigants' fund, the blood products account and the Aboriginals Benefit Account). Defence may invest only the part of its endowments and trust special account linked to the Boxer Heavy Weapon Carrier initiative and the Arctic Over the Horizon Radar capability. In investing or reinvesting, the delegate has to pursue, by every reasonable step, the best return available on authorised investments while meeting the account's cash-flow needs, and must give the Australian Office of Financial Management details of any proposed investment or reinvestment of $15 million or more before making it. The 2026 (No. 2) amendment removed the House of Representatives from the delegates.
