Water services (cold, heated, non-drinking and fire-fighting) must be designed, constructed and installed to avoid contamination. Verification Method B5V1 determines individual and zone hazard ratings from site conditions: scores reflect how serious a cross-connection could be, for example a score of 3 where a cross-connection would affect drinking water for 100 or more people. Deemed-to-Satisfy B5D2 to B5D7: drinking, non-drinking and fire-fighting services installed to AS/NZS 3500.1 with backflow prevention matched to hazard; unprotected services; rainwater protection to AS/NZS 3500.1 clause 16.4; and prescribed hazard ratings for known cross-connection hazards (with fire sprinkler systems to FPAA101D). B5D7 prescribes ratings only for a limited list of hazards, so other hazards need assessment. Several States vary the clauses.
