A product used in contact with drinking water must comply with AS/NZS 4020, shown by an Accredited Testing Laboratory report or a WaterMark Licence that includes it; a copper alloy product in contact with drinking water must have a weighted average lead content of at most 0.25 per cent, shown by a laboratory report to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 or a WaterMark Licence that includes it (the lead requirement does not take effect until the transition in WaterMark Notice of Direction 2021/4 ends, and earlier certified products stay usable). A product of a type on the WaterMark Schedule of Products is deemed fit if it holds a WaterMark Licence under the Scheme Rules; a product on the Schedule of Excluded Products needs a certification body certificate or an Accredited Testing Laboratory report; any other product needs a risk assessment under the WaterMark Scheme Rules. Evidence that a design or system meets the Performance Requirements may be Deemed-to-Satisfy compliance, a Performance Solution certified by a professional engineer or recognised expert with its basis, or other documentary evidence that states its basis.
