Section 6: Keeping records – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace 6.1b: 6.1 Keep presence-sensing and good practice plant records

A person with management or control of plant with a presence-sensing safeguarding system must keep a record of safety integrity tests, inspections, maintenance, commissioning, decommissioning, dismantling or alterations for five years, or for the life of the plant or until control is given up if it is registered plant or has been altered (r 226). Good practice is to keep records for other plant too, which may include the unique plant identification number, design registration information, commissioning data, compliance statements and test certificates, manufacturer's specifications and manuals, inspection results, results of tests on safety devices such as earth continuity, guard testing and stop time measurement, maintenance and major repairs, alterations, use deviating from intended conditions, risk assessments, information, instruction and training given to workers, and operator competencies.
