Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace 3.4c: 3.4 Assess off-site and external risks to and from the workplace

Include in the assessment risks from activities and installations next door and from the surrounding area: hazardous chemicals on adjacent premises that could be ignited by activities at the workplace, other materials adding to the fire load, operation of plant and vehicles, deliveries, personnel movements, visitor access and emergency exercises on adjacent premises, the proximity of sensitive facilities such as schools, hospitals, child and aged care facilities, theatres, shopping centres and residences, incompatible materials in plant, storage and handling systems, foreseeable failures of plant and storage, natural events such as temperature extremes, wind, lightning, rainfall and flooding, and human error in operation, examined systematically.
