Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace
Section 2: Identifying hazards, safety data sheets and labels – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing Risks of Hazardous Chemicals in the Workplace 2.2b: 2.2 Give workers and emergency responders ready access to the SDS (r 344)

The PCBU must make sure the current SDS is readily accessible to workers who use, handle or store the hazardous chemical, to emergency service workers and to anyone else likely to be exposed. It should be kept near the work area in hard copy or another format including electronic, and workers likely to be exposed must know how to find it. An electronic database may suit workplaces with many chemicals, such as universities, provided it is readily available, workers know how to use it and a back-up such as hard copies exists. The requirement does not apply to some chemicals and consumer products in specified circumstances.
